Fantastic for game dev!

I just got Unity Pro and it's amazing! The features are so powerful, and the integration with the Asset Store is super helpful. I downloaded a few assets right away and they worked perfectly. This is going to make my game development so much easier. I'm definitely shopping here again for more tools and assets. Totally recommend it!

Always reliable for my work

I've been a Unity user for years, mostly on the Personal plan, but I upgraded to Unity Pro for a larger project recently. This time around, I purchased the Unity Reflect license. Like my previous experiences, the whole process was smooth. The download was quick, and the license key activated without a hitch. It's consistently reliable, which is why I stick with Unity for my professional needs. I appreciate that I rarely encounter any unexpected issues with their services.

Good experience overall

I recently subscribed to Unity Pro for a new project. The ordering process on their site was straightforward enough, though I had to hunt a bit for the annual billing option to get the discount. Delivery, well, it's software, so instant access was great. I had a small question about seat management for my team, and their support chat got back to me within a few hours with a clear answer. The software itself is robust, as expected. I've been using Unity for years, so usability wasn't an issue for me, but the new features in the latest version are a solid improvement. The quality of the tools for real-time 3D development is why I keep coming back.

Pretty good, got what I needed

I needed Unity Pro for a project at work. Signed up, paid for the annual subscription, and got everything working that same day. The interface is familiar, which is nice, no big learning curve. It felt pretty straightforward to get it set up and start using it. Everything just worked, you know? Happy with it.

Worth the investment

I was looking for a robust game engine and decided to try Unity Pro. I made sure to select the annual billing to get the best price. It wasn't cheap, but compared to what I'd spend on individual tools elsewhere, it felt like good value for money. The initial setup was easy, and I've already started using some of the advanced features. So far, it seems like a solid purchase for my development needs.

Does Unity have a Black Friday sale for the Asset Store? Looking to grab some stuff for a new project.

K Kate 2 months ago
Absolutely! They always have big sales around Black Friday and Cyber Monday for the Asset Store. I've gotten some insane deals then.

Yep, November and December are big for Asset Store sales. Definitely wait if you can, usually 50% off on a lot of assets.

Hey, wondering if Unity Pro ever goes on sale? Or if there's a student discount for that tier?

D Dan 1 month ago
Yeah, they usually have something for students, but I think the Pro discount isn't always a promo code, more like an automatic thing if you go through a specific student portal. The Personal version is free though for hobbyists.

Pro itself rarely gets a direct 'sale' like a percentage off with a code. Annual billing can save you a bit, but for students, it's usually the free Personal edition they push or sometimes a specific academic license deal that's not just a general coupon.

I'm thinking about switching from Unreal Engine. Is Unity easier to learn for indie game development, especially for mobile?

R Ryan 2 months ago
Depends on what you're doing, but for mobile, Unity is super strong. Lots of resources and it feels a bit more approachable for indie devs starting out, in my opinion.

Both have their pros and cons. Unity is really good for mobile, and the Asset Store has tons of pre-made solutions. Unreal's visual scripting (Blueprints) is great if you're not into coding as much, but Unity's C# is pretty common.

What's the deal with this 'Runtime Fee' I keep hearing about? Does it apply to everyone using Unity?

R Ryan C. 2 months ago
Nah, it was a whole big thing but they changed it. As far as I know, it mainly affects games that hit a certain revenue and install threshold, not really for smaller indie projects or personal use. You'd probably know if it applied to you.

C Colin G. 2 months ago
Yeah, they walked back a lot of that. It's for games that are super successful, over a specific revenue AND install count. Most people don't need to worry about it, especially if you're just starting or making smaller games.
